Police investigating Saskatoons 14th homicide of 2019 after man dies following altercation

Saskatoon police are investigating the city’s 14th homicide of 2019, after a 27-year-old man died in hospital following an altercation in a parking lot on Northumberland Avenue.According to a police news release, emergency crews were called to the 900 block of Northumberland Avenue on Saturday around 2:15 a.m., after receiving reports that a man had been injured when an altercation broke out between a group of people in a parking lot.The man was transported to hospital, where police say he died from his injuries.Investigators with the major crimes, forensic identification and other investigative units attended the scene.Police arrested two people of interest shortly after 8 a.m. when a member of the traffic unit spotted a vehicle believed to be associated with the incident.Story continues belowThis advertisement has not loaded yet,but your article continues below.Police later issued a news release stating that one of the two men, age 26, is charged with second-degree murder and the other, age 33, is charged with being an accessory after the fact to aggravated assault.Because multiple people were present when the incident took place and some were recording video with their phones, police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the event, or recorded some or all of the incident to contact them at 306-975-8300, and ask to speak to an investigator in the major crimes unit. read more
